Introduction
Stamford Town Council has produced a Town Plan that outlines the policies and aims for the Town over the next 20 years. This plan will be used to guide the work to be undertaken by Local Government bodies at all levels and their agents/contractors to ensure that the Town remains a vibrant and delightful place to live and work in and to visit.
An essential part of the preparation of the Town Plan was consultation with the Public and the Town Council, with the assistance of a number of specialist volunteers from within the community, produced a questionnaire that was distributed to every household (about 10,000 copies) in the town in Spring 2009. The aim was to gauge the Public’s views on what the Town Council believed would be the key issues and opportunities facing the Town in the foreseeable future. The end response was almost a 20% return, which is credible by any standard for such a survey. These results have been used to inform this plan and they are referred to throughout the document. The results, together with some simple graphical analysis, can be viewed here .Town Plan Statistics
Many of the issues raised are beyond the control of the Town Council so we will press hard and work with the relevant authorities who do have the capability to make the changes required to ensure that Stamford attains the best result possible in the prevailing circumstances.
